Cori Bush Screams “It Pisses Me Off” After Failed Comeback Bid
Former Democrat Congresswoman Cori Bush did not go quietly. After losing her congressional comeback bid, Bush delivered a fiery concession speech that quickly turned into an angry attack on her opponent, Republicans, and what she called “respectability politics.”
Bush lost in a landslide to Democrat Wesley Bell. NBC’s Steve Kornacki called the race early for Bell as he held a 35-point lead with just 26% of the vote counted. In the final results, Bell kept his massive double-digit advantage.

Bush appeared to frame the loss as something larger than a failed campaign. She spoke about the time she previously held the congressional seat and insisted that St. Louis deserved a representative who would show up and answer to voters.
“This is something, huh? So tonight, what we just walked through, what we just walked through, is an opportunity for the people to have their voice through a congressional seat because that’s what we had from 2021 through 2025, January 3rd, in the morning, to be exact,” she began with dramatic and somber pauses.
“And then January 23, I mean January 3, 2025, in the afternoon, that changed, and St. Louis lost. St. Louis, you deserve a representative that sees you, that hears you, that cares about every single one of you. That’s why I’m looking at every single one of you, because you deserve that. That’s the least. That’s the lowest bar.”
Then Bush made clear just how angry she was about the result.
“And it pisses me off. It pisses me off that for the next two years, this community will be represented by someone that didn’t deem you valuable enough to show up to one candidate forum where there were audience comments, even though I showed up to every one because I can speak up for my record, and I can speak against the lies and the smears! But he ran a whole campaign on smears and nothing about what he’s done because he hasn’t done anything, and nothing about what he will do because he doesn’t know!”
Bush spent several minutes railing against Bell and Republicans. She claimed Republicans used her opponent to “target” her district and prevent her return to Congress.
Her speech grew even more intense as she urged supporters to stay politically engaged during the next two years.
“What this next two years is going to take first is for us to be informed. You all, we can’t be asleep on this, what’s happening! We cannot be asleep, St. Louis. You can’t let respectability politics! You can’t let that be what dictates who is your representative and who is going to serve you because respectability politics don’t even see you!”
Bush then called for supporters to take matters into their own hands.
“What we need is servant leadership, and we don’t have that right now, but you know what? You know what? So we are going to have to do it ourselves!”

The defeat marks the end of Bush’s attempted political comeback. As previously reported by The Gateway Pundit, Bush ran as a Democratic Socialist after she was kicked out of office in 2024.
The race was called roughly one hour after the polls closed, when Bell held more than 70% of the vote. Bush’s concession speech did not acknowledge a narrow loss. Instead, she presented the result as a rejection of the people she said she had represented and accused Bell of winning through attacks rather than a clear record or agenda.
For Bell, the outcome was a decisive victory. For Bush, the return to Congress ended with a public display of frustration and a promise that her supporters would remain active.
