Marcus Coleman Rejects Democrats’ Sympathy in Emotional Sanctuary Hearing (VIDEO)

Marcus Coleman delivered an emotional message to congressional Democrats during a hearing on sanctuary policies. His daughter, Dalilah, suffered life-changing injuries after a tractor-trailer crashed into the vehicle she was riding in.

Fox News reported that the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement held the hearing. Coleman was one of the people who testified.

Dalilah was 5 years old when the 2024 crash happened. The truck driver, Partap Singh, was an illegal alien from India who had obtained a commercial driver’s license in California. According to the account presented at the hearing, Singh was driving at an unsafe speed and failed to stop for traffic in a construction zone.

The source article reports that Singh crossed the southern border illegally in October 2022 and was released into the United States during the Biden administration.

Dalilah suffered a traumatic brain injury and cerebral palsy. She is permanently disabled. Coleman said the tragedy has also changed the financial reality of his entire family. He had to leave his job as a truck driver and is now trying to provide for his nine children.

During his testimony, Coleman blamed sanctuary cities and policies that provide benefits such as health care and driver’s licenses to illegal aliens. He made clear that he did not want empty expressions of sympathy from Democrats.

“I reject your sympathy, to be honest with you.”

A video clip of the testimony spread online, drawing strong reactions from viewers.

Coleman pointed toward his daughter while describing what he believes sanctuary policies have produced.

“This is the end result of sanctuary cities right here (pointing at his daughter). And this guy was just going to work?”

“You guys want to talk about illegal immigrants who are just driving to work to be part of a community? This is what happens.”

He also described the burden placed on his household after the crash.

“I had to stop truck driving. I no longer make the money I used to make.

I’m now pinching pennies. I have nine kids, by the way, that I take care of. And I had to sit there and stretch that all because of this right here.

It’s not her fault. It’s this (room’s) fault right here.”

Coleman compared illegal immigration to someone entering a private home without permission and disrupting the household. He then contrasted his wife’s legal immigration process with those who cross the border illegally.

“My wife is a (legal) immigrant; she did everything she was supposed to do. I don’t understand why any of you think it’s okay for a guy to just jump a fence to be entitled to the exact same rights I have.”

At another emotional point, Coleman reminded lawmakers that his daughter is a child first—not a political label.

“When I tuck my daughter in at night, she’s not a Republican or a Democrat; she’s 7 years old.”

He closed by rejecting the idea that lawmakers had shown genuine concern for his family.

“There’s no way you guys are sorry. Not one of you guys have ever called me, not one of you guys have ever reached out to me, not one of you guys have ever sat there and seen me in the hallways and said, hey, sorry about your daughter.”

The testimony prompted widespread approval online. Some viewers even urged Coleman to run for Congress in 2028.
