Team Trump Fires Back at CNN’s “Illegal” Ban Warning With List of Alleged Hoaxes

The Trump administration is not backing down after CNN objected to President Trump’s decision to ban the network from the White House. Instead, Team Trump answered with a long list of stories it says show why CNN should not be treated as an unquestioned authority.

The clash began when Trump announced on Truth Social that CNN, MSNOW, and Politico were being banned from the White House for constantly reporting “FAKE NEWS.” CNN responded by defending its White House team and appearing ready for a legal fight.

“I am proud to announce that, effective immediately, I am banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW (who recently changed their name from MSNBC due to lack of viewership and credibility!), and Politico (The recipients of an illegal and ridiculous $8 Million Dollar subscription, an All Time Record, directly from the United States Government, under Crooked Joe Biden, in order to keep them “alive.”),”

Trump’s announcement made clear that the decision was tied to his view of the outlets’ coverage. CNN then issued a statement defending what it called its “fair and accurate” reporting while arguing that the Constitution protected its ability to report from inside the White House.

“CNN stands fully behind our White House team and their fair and accurate reporting. We have a right under the US Constitution to do that reporting without hindrance or interference from the government,”

CNN wrote in a statement.

“Should the ban, which President Trump threatened, go ahead, it would be an illegal assault on that fundamental and constitutionally-protected right,”

the outlet said.

That language went beyond a routine complaint about press access. CNN presented the issue as a constitutional confrontation and said the administration would be attacking a protected right if it followed through. The Gateway Pundit report said the dispute would almost certainly spark a legal battle, with CNN appearing ready for one.

The Trump administration’s response was blunt. Rather than back away from the ban, it released what it described as a record of CNN hoaxes and false narratives. The list included the “Very Fine People” Hoax, the Russian Collusion Hoax, and the COVID Lab Theory is Racist hoax, along with other examples.

That is the core of Team Trump’s argument. CNN is demanding access and insisting that its reporting is constitutionally protected. Trump’s team is pointing readers back to what it says is a long record of inaccurate coverage. In other words, the administration is treating CNN’s own reporting history as the receipt.
