WATCH: ICE Agent Dances as Protester Screams Through Window at Newark Facility
An immigration enforcement officer outside the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, did not appear rattled as anti-ICE protesters surrounded the area and tried to get a reaction.
Video shared on social media shows a female officer sitting inside a transport vehicle while music plays. Instead of arguing with the person filming through the window, she dances along and stays calm.
The protester filming the moment clearly was not amused.
“You think dancing offends us?” the activist shouts.
“What offends us is that you’re literally trafficking human beings right now!”
That line says a lot about where the immigration fight stands right now. To the anti-ICE crowd, enforcing federal immigration law is treated like some kind of criminal act. But ICE officers are tasked with carrying out federal law, including detention and transport operations tied to immigration enforcement.
The clip was circulated by the social media account @christina.summers2, which claimed the van had seven detainees inside and was headed into Delaney Hall. The short video does not show the passengers and does not independently confirm that number.
Delaney Hall has become one of the biggest flashpoints in the Northeast immigration battle. The facility is privately owned and operated by GEO Group. It has 1,000 beds and is being used under a 15-year contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
GEO Group announced the agreement in February 2025 and said the site would support ICE’s Newark enforcement operations. The company also said the contract was expected to bring in more than $60 million in annualized revenue.
Since reopening as a detention hub, Delaney Hall has drawn repeated protests. Activists have gathered outside the facility, shouted at officers, confronted vehicles, and demanded that detainees be released.
Prior reports described tense scenes at the site in June, including anti-ICE protesters allegedly attacking or damaging vehicles trying to leave the facility. One vehicle reportedly had its windshield shattered as protesters swarmed the area.
Another incident involved two protesters attempting to block a Jeep with their bodies before being knocked to the ground when the driver kept moving.
The latest video is a snapshot of the larger fight. One side sees ICE as law enforcement doing its job. The other side sees detention itself as an outrage. In this case, the officer chose not to argue. She danced, and the protester melted down anyway.
