Trump Blasts Jeffries Over Violent Rhetoric After Assassination Attempt
President Donald Trump turned up the heat again on Thursday, going after House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries over the kind of language that has become a magnet for outrage in Washington. Trump said Jeffries should face criminal charges, tying the Democrat leader to the broader climate of political violence that has surrounded recent attacks and threats.
Trump posted, “This lunatic, Hakeem ‘Low IQ’ Jeffries, should be charged with INCITING VIOLENCE!” He also shared an image showing Jeffries beside a photo of Trump with the words “maximum warfare, everywhere all the time.” The post also pointed to an image tied to accused gunman Cory Tomas Allen as he arrived at the White House Correspondents Association dinner.

Trump then widened the attack, writing, “The Radical Left Democrats actually want to Destroy our Country,”
Jeffries did not back down. According to Axios, when asked about what he said after the attempt on Trump’s life, he answered, “I stand by it,” He also mocked “so-called criticism from these phony Republicans.” Later, he doubled down again, saying, “You can continue to criticize me for it. I don’t give a damn about the criticism … get lost,”

Republicans wasted no time firing back. Rep. Randy Fine of Florida posted, “So-called Hakeem Jeffries is a disgrace to the United States Congress,” He also said, “He is deranged, disgusting and violent. It is unacceptable that House Democrats continue to remain silent in the aftermath of his call for ‘maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time’ against Republicans,”

Rep. Jim Banks joined in too, saying, “Violent rhetoric has taken over the mainstream Democrat Party.” He added, “The Left’s incendiary language, from Jasmine Crockett to Hakeem Jeffries, is fueling the political violence we are seeing. It’s sick, dangerous, and irresponsible.”

Rep. Andrew Clyde also blasted the atmosphere around the White House Correspondents Association dinner. He said radical Democrats held “Death to tyrant” and “Death to all of them” signs outside the event on the night of the attempted assassination. He then put it bluntly: “The Democrat Party’s rhetoric is demonic and dangerous,”

This fight is about more than one ugly post or one heated exchange. It is about the nonstop political poison swirling through the system. Conservatives say Democrats keep pushing the envelope, then pretending the words do not matter when things get ugly. That argument is not going away anytime soon, because every new flare-up makes the same point louder. The temperature keeps rising. And the people dropping the matches keep acting surprised when the room starts to burn.
