During a heated exchange on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” British journalist Piers Morgan and liberal streamer Destiny clashed over President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter. As Morgan criticized Democrats for high moral ground, Destiny questioned the effectiveness of upholding norms in the current political climate.
Morgan accused Democrats of losing their chance to hold the moral high ground over President Trump in the next four years, as he now has the power to pardon whomever he pleases.
I would argue that they never had it to begin with.
However, Destiny argued that the high moral ground has not gained Democrats much in the past, citing previous elections and the current state of the Supreme Court.
“What is the high moral ground?” Destiny asked, pointing out that Democrats have already lost a Supreme Court pick and the 2000 presidency due to a Supreme Court decision. He also noted that Trump now has “infinite criminal immunity,” causing Morgan to stumble over his defense of Biden’s decision.
This pardon has caused controversy among both Democrats and Republicans, with some questioning the motives behind Biden’s decision. Critics have pointed out that Biden and his staff previously stated that he would not pardon Hunter before leaving office, leading to accusations of hypocrisy.
During their argument, the two also discussed Trump’s pardons of his former aides Steven Bannon and Roger Stone, with Destiny claiming that Hunter Biden’s crimes are not comparable.
But despite criticism, Biden defended his decision by stating that any “reasonable” person would have concluded that Hunter was targeted because of his relationship to the president. Yet, the move has only added more fuel to the ongoing debate over the use of presidential pardons.
The back-and-forth between Morgan and Destiny highlights the ongoing divide in the media between liberals and conservatives. While Morgan attempted to call out Destiny’s attitude, the liberal streamer pushed back, leading to a clash of opinions and a heated exchange.
As this discussion continues to spark controversy, it raises questions about the effectiveness of upholding norms and the use of power in politics. And while the debate may rage on, one thing is clear – the media will continue to highlight the divide between liberals and conservatives, even in the smallest of discussions.
