WATCH: James Talarico Praises Climate Group Targeting Texas Oil
A resurfaced video is getting new attention in Texas politics. It shows state Rep. James Talarico, now running for the U.S. Senate, praising Third Act, a left-wing climate activism group focused on fossil fuels.
The clip comes from a June 2024 organizing call tied to Third Act’s expansion into Texas. The group says it organizes older Americans around climate activism. In practice, it has pushed efforts aimed at the oil and gas industry, including pressure campaigns on major banks and opposition to liquefied natural gas export terminals on the Texas Gulf Coast.
In his recorded remarks, Talarico said, “This is the frontline in the fight to save democracy and save our planet, and so your arrival couldn’t come at a better time,” and added, “I look forward to working alongside all of you in this important work, and I just want to thank you for coming to Texas.”
Later in the call, he described the activists’ work as “as the most important work in the most important time in the most important place.” Those comments are now being replayed as voters take a closer look at where he stands on energy and climate policy.
Texas is still one of the biggest oil and gas states in the country. That matters. A candidate who openly celebrates a group working to squeeze the industry is going to face questions, especially in a state where energy jobs, tax revenue, and economic growth are tied to that sector.
Fox News Digital said it obtained the video, and the clip has already started making the rounds online. For critics of Talarico, it is another sign that his political brand is far closer to the activist left than to the mainstream of Texas voters. For Talarico, it is a reminder that old video rarely stays buried for long.
